What to Play at a Bosnian Wedding?

Two weeks ago, I performed yet another fun-filled reception at Robert Ryan Catering's Columbia Station in Phoenixville, PA. for Kathleen and Izudin. This one was a little different ..... the Groom was Bosnian. After asking a few of my fellow Silver Sound  DJs, and searching through various websites, I couldn't find any  advice or guidance about Bosnian Wedding Traditions, or Bosnian Music. With some help from Izzy's cousin, I was presented with a list of some traditional and fun Bosnian dance songs they wanted to hear during their reception. After contributing to all the stockholders of Apple Inc., I added some great Bosnian tracks to my already extensive music library. Some of the artists included Esad Plavi, Rizo Hamidovic, and Dino Merlin. It was great experience getting the opportunity to play music that I wasn't familiar with. Bosnian music is a mixture of the national Slavic folklore with some Turkish influences from the western part of the world.

Here's a few video clips of some of the Bosnian music played during Izzy & Kathleen's Reception:

Besides for playing about a dozen Bosnian songs, Kathleen & Izzy's reception went on just like our traditional American Wedding Celebration!  Congratulations Kathleen & Izudin!

Jean Marie & Michael's Wedding Reception at The Columbia Station

The month of March came to a close with an awesome celebration at Robert Ryan Catering's Columbia Station in Phoenixville, PA. I ALWAYS enjoy entertaining at the Columbia Station, as the facility is amazing and the staff members are always a pleasure to work along side! Jean Marie & Michael wed at a nearby church, and then arrived at the Columbia Station along with their 160 guests consisting of family and close friends.  The evening began with cocktails and hors d'oeurves in the lounge area, and then dinner and dancing in the main ballroom. Jean Marie & Michael's color theme was red and silver for their special day, so I decorated the ballroom with red LED uplighting for the majority of their reception, and then changed the lighting to "sound-active" mode for the last hour, raising the energy level and ambiance of the ballroom.

Ryann & Daniel's Wedding Reception at The Columbia Station

Believe it or not.... this was the first wedding I've done at The Columbia Station when it wasn't raining! After a long span of hot and humid (and rainy) Saturday wedding receptions this year, the weather has finally turned into perfect "wedding weather". Ryann & Daniel's wedding day was actually the first time I got to meet Ryann. She has been living in Boston, so most of our communication was done via email and telephone calls. After a wedding ceremony at a local church, Ryann & Daniel's 210 guests consisting of family and friends traveled to Robert Ryan Catering's Columbia Station to celebrate. The guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while Ryann, Daniel, and their Bridal Party posed for pictures taken by Joell Gramacy. The guests then found their seats in the ballroom, and we proceded with formal introductions, dances, toasts and a blessing before dinner was served. Ryann & Daniel compiled a playlist of some "traditional" wedding classics including Jump 'N The Saddle's "Curly Shuffle" and Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline, and I also mixed in some newer songs. Whether I was playing an oldie or a top 40 hit, the dance floor was packed the entire night. Ryann & Daniel were a pleasure to work with, and I had a great time entertaining their guests! Here's how Ryann & Daniel's reception went:
4:30pm - Cocktails & Hors d'oeuvres
5:45pm - Guests enter the Ballroom
6:01pm - Parent & Bridal Party Introductions
"I Gotta Feelin" - Black Eyed Peas

               & Best Man

6:25pm - Dinner served
7:49pm - Unity Candle & Cake Cutting
