Dancing at the Desmond with Melinda & Paul

The Desmond Great Valley Hotel & Conference Center in Malvern, PA is an awesome location to host the celebration of the most special day in your life. Melinda & Paul enjoyed each and every minute of their reception, and could not have stopped smiling even if they tried !

The first time I met Melinda & Paul, I knew that their reception was going to be a blast. They didn't leave the dance floor from the moment the music began until the very last song ! Their evening began with a lavish cocktail hour in the lounge before their guests entered the Grand Ballroom. Before dinner was served, Melinda & Paul shared their first dance, and the Maid of Honor & Best Man toasted (and roasted) the newlyweds. Between dinner courses, Melinda welcomed her Grandfather, and Paul welcomed his Mother to the dance floor for special dances. After dinner, they cut their cakes (Melinda surprised Paul with a unique "grooms cake"), and the dancing began. Half way through the night, Melinda tossed her bouquet, and Paul threw his football.....with Melinda's garter wrapped around it... a pretty cool twist on the average "garter toss"!

Special songs for the night:

Introductions:  "Ghosts n' Stuff" by Deadmau5
First Dance:  "Then" by Brad Paisley
Grandfather & Bride Dance: "Delaney Talks to Statues" by Jimmy Buffett
Mother & Groom Dance:   "A Song for My Son" by Mikki Viereck
Cake Cutting:   "Somebody to Love" by Justin Bieber
Bouquet Toss:  "Single Ladies" by Beyonce
Garter Removal:  "Big Pimpin'" by Jay Z
Garter Toss: "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys

French Creek Golf Club...... "All Lit Up"

It was over two years since my last visit to the French Creek Golf Club. French Creek is located in northern Chester County in Elverson, PA, and has many amazing amenities to host virtually any special occasion. I recently had the honor of entertaining Amy & Chris's intimate Sunday wedding celebration. With temperatures rising into the mid-nineties, there was plenty of sunshine for their outdoor ceremony which took place outdoors around the spring house and pond.

Normally, guests will enjoy "cocktail hour" outside under the covered patio overlooking the golf course. Instead, they took advantage of the comfortable air conditioning inside the ballroom. Amy & Chris's reception began with formal introductions, first dance, and special dances with their parents. After a toast by the best man, dinner was served and the fun began! I projected a custom monogram behind the sweetheart table displaying Amy & Chris's initials, as well as decorated the ballroom with wireless LED uplighting to match their wedding colors. Later on, the lighting came "alive", changing colors to the beat of the music.

Congratulations Amy & Chris!

What to Play at a Bosnian Wedding?

Two weeks ago, I performed yet another fun-filled reception at Robert Ryan Catering's Columbia Station in Phoenixville, PA. for Kathleen and Izudin. This one was a little different ..... the Groom was Bosnian. After asking a few of my fellow Silver Sound  DJs, and searching through various websites, I couldn't find any  advice or guidance about Bosnian Wedding Traditions, or Bosnian Music. With some help from Izzy's cousin, I was presented with a list of some traditional and fun Bosnian dance songs they wanted to hear during their reception. After contributing to all the stockholders of Apple Inc., I added some great Bosnian tracks to my already extensive music library. Some of the artists included Esad Plavi, Rizo Hamidovic, and Dino Merlin. It was great experience getting the opportunity to play music that I wasn't familiar with. Bosnian music is a mixture of the national Slavic folklore with some Turkish influences from the western part of the world.

Here's a few video clips of some of the Bosnian music played during Izzy & Kathleen's Reception:

Besides for playing about a dozen Bosnian songs, Kathleen & Izzy's reception went on just like our traditional American Wedding Celebration!  Congratulations Kathleen & Izudin!
